Situated across the road from Notting Hill Gate station, The Little Yellow Door (TLYD) is one of the coolest pop up restaurants that you’ll come across in London. To even call it a restaurant is a bit strange, given the venue is based on a fictional flat-share and guests are invited to a spacious front room with mixologists that are ready to whip up the cocktails that your heart desires. As you can imagine, a front room with a bar can only result in a fun-filled weekend, where you can join the flatmates for drinks, dinner and a host of activities.
Upon arrival we were greeted by our lovely hostess, who gave us 5* service throughout the night. The Emoji Menu (which makes for a great guessing game) was the special for the night and at £20 a head for a 2 course meal and a cocktail, we couldn’t go wrong. For the starter, the BBQ wings were made to perfection with blue cheese as the dipping sauce which really complimented the wings. The highlight of the night for me were the main courses. We had the chicken salad with bacon, tomato and avocado and the steak sandwich with truffle mayo, tomato, onions and rocket. All topped off with a side of chips. It’s not the most extravagant menu that you will ever see but the quality of the food and value for money cannot be questioned.

TLYD do seriously good cocktails too, the rum and pineapple based ‘The Little Yellow Door House Punch’ has enough alcohol in it for you to notice but not overbearing on the taste itself. In other words, have a few of these and the wave will creep upon you before you even know it. The refreshing Sour Strawberry Martini will also go down a treat and is highly recommended.

The venue allows you to make bookings in a variety of ways, including WhatsApp, which is incredibly simple and convenient considering if you were visiting a friend at their place, chances are you would WhatsApp or text them. It’s the same concept.
Wednesdays tend to be the more relaxed environment but if you wanted to grab a casual bite and drink with a few friends to have a laugh TLYD is the place to be. With it being widely accepted in our generation that Thursdays are the new Friday, things get a little more hectic as the weekend approaches and reaches its climax with a cocktail party that transitions into a house party on Saturdays with no risk of gate-crashers or complaining neighbours. You can even send the DJ your song requests via WhatsApp.
