USA Network has announced that they have been given a pilot order for a new true crime series based around the murders of hip-hop icons Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. ‘Unsolved’ will be a scripted series that will be based around the police investigations following the two murders and the experiences of former LAPD Detective Greg Kading, author of Murder Rap: The Untold Story of Biggie Smalls & Tupac Shakur Murder Investigations.

The pilot will be directed and executive produced by Anthony Hemingway, producer of true crime series ‘The People v. O.J Simpson: American Crime Story“.

Following the announcements NBC’s “Law & Order: True Crime” with the first season based around the Menendez brothers, HBO’s “The Jinx,” based on Robert Durst and FX’s “American Crime Story” who recently announced that season 3 will be based on the Versace murder, it seems like the genre is one that is sparking a lot of interest right now, so don’t be surprised if more pilot orders are announced from the true crime genre.
